Swimly is made up of passionate instructors with one aim, to deliver the best water instruction sessions. 

Focused on fun, engagement, trust, and safety, our goal is to maximise the time spent teaching to ensure you and your children can enjoy your time in the water.

Locations

Swimly is not restricted to one pool in Sydney, the team is able to teach adults or children in one of the public swimming pools we hire, or depending on the location, your own backyard or complex swimming pool.

Our network is currently within the Sydney, Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, and Bayside areas; expanding into the Northern Beaches, North West, and South West in the near future.

Elite PERFORMANCE coach

Jason Cram

With 20 years of elite competitive swimming, 5 years on the Australian team, and international gold medals to his name, Jason Cram, our Head Coach, brings unrivaled expertise to Swimly. Raised on the beaches of Wollongong as a Surf Lifesaver, Jason knows firsthand the respect and skill it takes to thrive in the water. 

After retiring, he became a Master Scuba Diving Instructor, lifeguard, and underwater photographer, teaching on private yachts and working with some of the world’s most influential people. 

Now, he’s channeling all that passion and knowledge to help everyday Australians conquer the water and enjoy it like never before.

Antonette Jayona – Senior Instructor

Antonette is an accredited swim teacher, passionate Surf Lifesaver, and an active patrol member of the Australian Lifeguard Service. With a lifelong connection to the water, she brings a calm, reassuring presence to every lesson—whether at the pool or in open water.

Having learned to swim at a young age, Antonette has developed deep expertise in both technical skills and water safety. She shares Swimly’s mission to help others feel at ease in the water and is especially skilled in supporting those with a fear of water.

Using Swimly’s trauma-aware approach, Antonette helps swimmers understand how the body and mind respond in aquatic environments—enabling faster breakthroughs, greater confidence, and long-lasting progress.

Nathan Taplin – Advanced Coach 

Nathan is a dedicated swim coach, secondary school teacher, and passionate water safety advocate. With a background shaped by years of competitive swimming, Nathan brings both technical precision and a love of teaching to every session.

A former Sydney University Elite Athlete Program scholar (2018–2021), Nathan made his mark at the 2021 Australian Swimming Championships on the Gold Coast. Specialising in breaststroke at a national level, his deep understanding of this complex stroke allows him to break down technique in a way that’s clear, effective, and tailored to each swimmer.

Whether introducing beginners to the water, guiding adults through stroke correction, or refining race-day skills with junior and senior athletes, Nathan adapts to every level with confidence. His goal is simple: help every swimmer feel safe, strong, and inspired in the pool—while nurturing a lifelong love for the sport.

Hyun Soo Hwang – Advanced Coach

Hyun Soo is an experienced performance coach with a strong background in competitive swimming and over three years of hands-on coaching. A former national-level swimmer, he brings elite insight to every session whether you’re training for competition or aiming to build confidence in the pool.

Currently studying Sport Science, Hyun Soo blends technical expertise with a calm, supportive approach. He works with both junior and senior competitive swimmers, and is equally passionate about helping adults reach their personal swimming goals, whether that’s refining technique, improving fitness, or overcoming fear of the water.

 

Focused, encouraging, and results-driven, Hyun Soo helps every swimmer unlock their full potential.

Ruby, Swimly swim instructor in Sydney, helping beginner adults gain water confidence, teaching kids 7 years and older, and providing stroke correction for competitive swimmers.

Ruby Hawkes – Performance Coach

Ruby brings both warmth and precision to her coaching at Swimly. She has a natural gift for working with beginner adults, helping them overcome nerves and develop water confidence at their own pace. With kids aged 7 and up, she creates a fun, supportive environment that builds strong foundations while keeping lessons engaging.

 

For competitive swimmers, Ruby offers a sharp technical eye. She’s passionate about fine-tuning stroke mechanics, helping athletes gain efficiency and speed in the water. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to shave seconds off your race time, Ruby’s approach blends encouragement with expertise to bring out the best in every swimmer.
